PRINCETON — A new coffee franchise is headed soon to Princeton’s north end.
Scooter’s Coffee, an Omaha-based chain, has requested and been approved a permit for utility extensions. Princeton City Council on Monday approved the request.
Clerk Pete Nelson said the utility extensions are needed to help set up the business which will be located next to First State Bank on North Main Street.
City Manager Theresa Wittenauer on Tuesday said the chain will include a drive thru kiosk at North Main Street and West Century Drive.
“This will be a completely new building constructed just to the north of First State Bank,” she said. “The land is vacant right now, so a new building will be put there in the coming months.”
Wittenauer said the construction of the new building will be quite quick, once the city has the permits for utility extensions in the state right-of-way approved.
“We are hoping to organize a groundbreaking or ribbon cutting once everything moves forward,” she said.
Wittenauer said Scooter’s is more prevalent in Omaha and throughout Iowa, but is starting to make their way east into Illinois and Wisconsin.
Scooter’s sells a range of hot and iced coffees, blended drinks, smoothies, teas, and breakfast and baked goods.
