St. Margaret’s Hospital hosts blood drive

A phlebotomist prepares to collect blood during the second annual Jake Keltner Memorial Blue Blood Drive on Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021, in Crystal Lake. The blood drive event was held Glacier Ridge Elementary School this year to better accommodate social distancing measures. It attracted about 360 pre-registered donors with walk-in also accepted. McHenry County sheriff's Deputy Jacob Keltner was killed in the line of duty serving an arrest warrant in March 2019 in Rockford.

SPRING VALLEY - St. Margaret’s is hosting a blood drive with ImpactLife on Tuesday, July 20, from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The blood drive will be held in the Hospital’s First Floor Presentation Room.

To be a blood donor, one must be in good health, weigh at least 110 pounds and be at least 17 years old (16 with parental consent form). Bloodmobiles are scheduled approximately eight weeks apart – the recommended time span between individual donations. Please also remember your donor card or photo ID. Donors will get their choice of a performance zip up pullover or a gift card.

Walk-ins are welcome, or make an appointment by calling St. Margaret’s Volunteer Services at 815-664-1130 or online at www.bloodcenter.org.
