Princeton takes down Newman, 68-65

Grady Thompson and the Princeton Tigers got back in action in a big way Friday night at Newman.

Thompson poured in 36 points to lead the Tigers to a 68-65 win over the Comets.

Kolten Monroe had 13 points and Teegan Davis and Kaden Monroe added eight each.

Nolan Britt led Newman with 16 points while Lucas Simpson added 14 and Marcus Williams 10.

The teams battled back and forth with Newman lead 17-16 at the end of the first quarter, PHS moving ahead 36-33 at the half only to have the Comets go back in front at the end of third quarter, 54-53.

It was the Tigers’ first game in 10 days, since losing to Kewanee 50-40 on Jan. 4.

PHS 46, Newman 24 (sophomores): Jimmy Starkey and Daniel Sousa each had 11 points and Tyson Phillips added 10 for the Kittens in victory Friday night.

Kewanee 63, Hall 58: Brady Clark had a 28 points to lead the Boilermakers to a road win in Spring Valley Friday night.

Ethan Plym, Payton Dye and Drake Garland each scored 14 points and Mac Resetich added 12 points and seven rebounds for Hall, which led 46-42 after three quarters before being outscored 21-12 in the fourth.

Princeton 46, Kewanee 36: Matthew Harris recorded a fall in 1:05 to help the Princeton wrestling team to victory Friday in Kewanee.
