Princeton cagers to play for both Colmone Classic championships

SPRING VALLEY - The Princeton Tiger cagers will play for not one Colmone Classic championship, but two on Saturday at Hall High School.

The PHS varsity punched its ticket to Saturday’s finals with a 62-38 win over Rock Falls in Friday’s semifinals. Grady Thompson led the Tigers with 25 points and Teegan Davis had 17.

The Tigers (3-4) will meet L-P, a 63-46 winner Friday over Pontiac, in Saturday’s championship game at 7:30 p.m.

PHS will also play for the Colmone Classic sophomore title. The Kittens defeated Rock Falls 55-46 in Friday’s semifinals and advance to the title game at 10:30 a.m. Saturday against Fieldcrest, which beat Marquette, 45-27.

Daniel Sousa led the PHS sophs with 14 points with Jimmy Starkey adding 13 and Bennett Williams 12.
