BV’s Jade Aber wins Class 1A state triple jump

CHARLESTON - Bureau Valley is bringing home two state medals from the IHSA Class 1A girls state track and field finals, and one of them is the big one.

BV senior Jade Aber won the state triple jump crown, competing in her third year at state. She jumped 11.13m with Brynlee Kerlan of Catlin Salt Fork (11.02m) taking second.

Aber, who placed eighth in the triple jump in 2019, also finished 12th in the long jump (5.06m).

Classmate Kamryn Kolb placed sixth in the long jump with a jump of 5.27m.

Amboy freshman Elly Jones landed three medals. She was sixth in the 100 HH (15.81m), eighth in the triple jump (10.32m) and 300 LH (49.10)

She also place 12th in the long jump (5.06m).

Amboy’s Lauren Althaus came in 11th in the 400 (1:01.03) and 24th in the 200 (27.66)

St. Bede also had two state competitors. Senior Teghan Tillman was 13th in the high jump (1.52m) and sophomore Anna Lopez was 23rd in the 100 (13.22).
