LAKE FOREST – The Bears waived receiver Rodney Adams on Wednesday, one day after naming him to the 53-man roster. Adams had been a standout during the preseason, catching a 73-yard touchdown hours after his daughter was born.

The Bears also placed offensive tackle Teven Jenkins and inside linebacker Danny Trevathan on injured reserve. They must remain out for at least three weeks.
Additionally, the team signed 13 players to the practice squad Wednesday. Practice squad players practice with the team during the week, but do not dress on game day. They can be pulled up to the active roster due to injuries or COVID-19-related absences.
This is the second consecutive season that the NFL has allowed 16 players on the practice squad, a change that was implemented last season due to the pandemic. Previously teams had been limited to 10 players. Typically, practice squad players are rookies or players with limited NFL experience. Beginning last year, teams were allowed to keep up to six players with an unlimited number of accrued seasons on the practice squad.
Players on the practice squad can be poached by another team if that other team wants to sign a player to the 53-man roster. Teams can protect up to four players per week from being signed by another team.
