Lawsuit against Riley Fox’s parents dismissed

JOLIET, Ill. (AP) — A Will County judge has agreed to dismiss the parents of slain 3-year-old Riley Fox from a lawsuit alleging they failed to pay $70,000 to a security firm.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports Will County Michael Powers dismissed Kevin and Melissa Fox from the case on Thursday. The judge made the dismissal at the request of National Investigators and Security Agency Inc. The Oak Forest firm sued the couple in September, claiming the company investigated the child's murder between May and December 2008 and wasn't compensated.

Riley Fox was found dead in a creek outside Wilmington in 2004. Kevin Fox spent eight months in jail before being cleared by DNA evidence. Convicted sex offender Scott Eby pleaded guilty to sexual assault and murder. He is serving a life sentence.
