GOLDEN EAGLE, Ill. (AP) — Investigators are trying to figure out what caused a fire that killed an 80-year-old woman in her home in southwestern Illinois.
Calhoun County Sheriff Bill Heffington tells The (Alton) Telegraph that Edna Eberlin was pronounced dead early Wednesday after the fire in Golden Eagle. Heffington didn't have any other details.
The newspaper reports that Eberlin was a longtime restaurant cook, an avid quilter and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brussels.
