Four COVID-related deaths Monday in the Sauk Valley

The Whiteside County Health Department announced 21 new cases of COVID-19 and 38 additional recoveries on Monday. The new cases involved one person under 20, two in their 20s, three in their 30s, four in their 40s, two in their 50s, four in their 60s and five in their 70s.

For the week ending November 29, Whiteside County had 281 new cases, down from the 554 of the previous week, with decreases in every age group. Over the past 14 days, Whiteside County has recorded 835 new cases, down from the 1,170 of the previous two weeks.

Lee County reported two COVID-related deaths Monday, involving people in their 60s and 70s. Since Friday, Lee County has recorded 55 new cases: 42 from the community, six from Dixon Correctional Center, five from Liberty Court and two from Franklin Grove Living and Rehab. There have been an additional 63 residents lifted off of isolation and recovered. The newly reported cases in the community include two teens, seven people in their 20s, nine in their 30s, two in their 40s, seven in their 50s, five in their 60s, seven in their 70s and three in their 80s.

Ogle County reported two COVID-related deaths on Monday, one a person in their 90s, the other a person in their 80s. Since last reporting its data on November 25, Ogle County has had 166 new cases and 187 recoveries.

Carroll County had 16 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, involving three people in their 30s, six in their 40s, two in their 60s, three in their 70s and two in their 80s.

Whiteside County has had 3,924 cases and 80 deaths. Lee County has had 1,899 cases, 1,090 recoveries and 20 deaths. Ogle County has had 2,851 cases, 2,196 recoveries and 31 deaths. Carroll County has had 1,073 cases and 24 deaths.

Sterling has had 11,175 tests and 1,437 cases. Rock Falls has had 5,558 tests and 848 cases. Dixon has had 13,197 tests and 1,344 cases. Rochelle has had 6,621 tests and 959 cases.

The North region (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties) has seen zero consecutive days under 12%. The region’s positivity rate decreased to 15.0%. Currently, 27.3% of medical/surgical beds are available and 22.5% of ICU beds.

The region has 11 consecutive days above the 20% threshold for ICU bed availability, and 11 consecutive days above the 20% threshold for medical/surgical bed availability.

Region 1 has a rolling, seven-day average of 259 COVID-19 patients in the hospital. Hospitalizations have decreased nine out of the past 10 days in this region.

Within this region, DeKalb County’s positivity rate increased to 11.1%, Lee County’s rate decreased to 18.5%, and Whiteside County’s rate dropped to 15.3%. Finally, within this region, there are 40 available, staffed ICU beds out of 179 total, a decrease of four from Sunday.

The Illinois Department of Public Health announced 6,190 new cases and 85 deaths on Monday. Illinois has had 726,304 cases and 12,278 deaths.
