Passenger killed in single-vehicle crash near Streator, driver arrested

Police say driver was intoxicated

The passenger of a single-vehicle rollover crash in Livingston County in South Streator died Saturday, and the driver of the vehicle was arrested after police said he was intoxicated.

The name of the passenger who died was not released Monday.

Lazaro Flores, 33, of Streator, was arrested 11:57 p.m. Saturday at the scene on the 1600 block of South Park Street and charged on complaints of reckless homicide, aggravated DUI, DUI with a blood alcohol content higher than .08, improper lane usage and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Flores was taken to the Livingston County Jail, and he was released after posting $15,000 cash as bond.

Reckless homicide is a Class 3 felony with a sentencing range of two to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections if found guilty. The DUI charges are both Class 2 felony charges, also carrying possible prison sentences if found guilty.

Livingston County sheriff's deputies, Streator Police Department, Reading Fire Department, AMT, Livingston County Coroner's Office and Illinois State Police responded to the crash.

Livingston County Sheriff's Detectives and Illinois State Police are investigating the incident.
