Boy Scout Troop 89 to sell trees, wreaths from new location in Downers Grove

DOWNERS GROVE - For 21 years, Boy Scout Troop 89 has sold Christmas trees and wreaths during the holiday season.

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the tree and wreath sale will continue in a safe and healthy manner. However, unlike in prior years, the tree lot will not be located at St. Mary of Gostyn parking lot because the school is continuing in-person learning and the parking lot is being utilized for student pickup.

Instead, the Boy Scout Troop 89 tree lot will be located in the Downers Grove Swim and Racket Club parking lot, located on Fairview Avenue just south of 55th Street. With safe and social distancing measures in place, the tree lot will open at 10 a.m. Nov. 27 and continue until Dec. 18. Weekend hours are from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. while weeknight hours are 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

A variety of types and sizes of trees as well as wreaths, door swags, and other holiday décor will be available. Proceeds will go toward funding for Scouting events such as summer camp, camping and philanthropy as well as other activities.
