Three COVID-related deaths, 302 new cases in the Sauk Valley Monday

Whiteside County on Monday announced 49 new cases of COVID-19. The new cases involve seven people younger than 20, eight in their 20s, six in their 30s, five in their 40s, eight in their 50s, four in their 60s, three in their 70s and 10 older than 80.

The county also saw 29 recoveries Monday.

Total new cases in Whiteside County for the week of November 16-22 dropped compared to the previous week, from 652 new cases to 556. New cases in the younger-than-20 age group rose, from 79 to 81, while in the older-than-80 age group, new cases went from 49 to 54, but overall, age groups saw slight declines. The 60-69 age group saw the sharpest decline, from 89 cases for the week ending Nov. 15 to 56 last week.

Even with that decline, there were more cases for the recent 2-week span, 1,176, than for the previous 2 weeks, 692.

Lee County announced 90 new cases Monday, covering a period that includes Saturday and Sunday. Of those, five are from the Dixon Correctional Center and six are from Franklin Grove Living and Rehab. An additional 43 people have recovered.

Ogle County announced a pair of COVID-related deaths on Monday, both involving people in their 90s. Ogle County also had 132 new cases Monday, as well as 94 recoveries.

Carroll County announced one COVID-related death on Monday, involving a person in his or her 60s. Carroll County also had 31 new cases, involving two children, two teens, three people in their 20s, three in their 30s, four in their 40s, six in their 50s, four in their 60s, six in their 70s and one in his or her 80s.

Whiteside County has had 3,674 cases and 69 deaths. Lee County has had 1,576 cases, 949 recoveries and six deaths. Ogle County has had 2,588 cases, 1,942 recoveries and 26 deaths. Carroll County has had 987 cases and 24 deaths.

Sterling has had 10,537 tests and 1,339 cases. Rock Falls has had 5,275 tests and 798 cases. Dixon has had 11,696 tests and 1,073 cases. Rochelle has had 6,323 tests and 900 cases.

The North region's (Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, Jo Daviess, Lee, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties) positivity rate decreased from 17.1% to 16.6%. Currently, 28% of medical/surgical beds are available and 24% of ICU beds.

Within this region, DeKalb County's positivity rate decreased to 12.8%, Lee County's rate increased to 17.0%, and Whiteside County's rate dropped to 19.8%.

Finally, within this region, there are 42 available, staffed ICU beds out of 179 total, a decrease of six from Sunday.

The Illinois Department of Public Health on Monday announced 8,322 new cases and 47 deaths. There have now been 664,620 cases and 11,552 deaths statewide.
