DeKALB – Join the Ellwood House Museum and DeKalb County History Center at noon Dec. 3 for “Illinois Nature Past and Present,” a virtual lecture by Peggy Doty, University of Illinois Extension educator in energy and environmental stewardship.
“Throughout the most recent Illinois history, our landscapes have changed to fit our desires," Doty said in a news release. "Nature has been tolerant of these changes to the best of its ability. Even animals have gone more from an asset to footnote in our lives.”
“Without wildlife in the past we would not have sustained ourselves, yet today we rarely give them a second thought unless they have disturbed us in some way," she said in the release. "Who lives here in Illinois with us, and who lives here now, despite us?”
“Illinois Nature Past and Present” is the last Brown Bag Lunch/Local Lore program of 2020. The lecture series is a collaboration of the museum and the DeKalb County History Center.
The free one-hour program, open to both adults and children, will be hosted virtually via Zoom. Registration is required. For more information, or to register, contact Audrey King at 815-756-4609 or king@ellwoodhouse.org.
Brown Bag Lunch/Local Lore is supported by the Mary E. Stevens Concert and Lecture Fund.
