To the Editor:
My name is Carla Housh, a proud resident of McHenry County. My husband, Arlin, and I first moved to McHenry County in 1986 and found ourselves living next door to a young Crystal Lake attorney, David Gervais, and his wonderful family.
As McHenry County voters, you should know Judge Gervais has been an attorney in Crystal Lake since 1982. Throughout his career, he has been involved in thousands of civil and criminal cases. He received his bachelor’s degree from Bucknell University and his Juris Doctorate from Chicago-Kent College of Law. At law school, he was a Richard Gorenz Scholarship recipient and a member of the Ethics Committee and International Law Society.
Today, Judge Gervais serves as a McHenry County circuit judge in the 22nd Judicial Circuit. He was appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court in February 2018 after the Honorable Michael Caldwell retired from the position.
We were honored to have attended Judge Gervais's swearing in ceremony at the McHenry County courthouse. After so many years serving the people of McHenry County and working hard toward one day becoming a judge, it was truly rewarding to witness our friend achieve his
dream of serving on the bench.
As an attorney for over 35 years, Judge Gervais has tried cases in every courtroom in McHenry
County. As a judge serving for the last 2.5 years, he has presided over a variety of cases.
That depth and breadth of his experience is necessary for judges to ensure fair legal decisions for all who seek justice. His experience helps him make sound, thoughtful decisions.
To date, the highly experienced Judge Gervais has never had a decision overturned, a rare accomplishment for a judge.
I encourage McHenry County residents to vote for Judge David Gervais. We know him to be extremely dedicated, knowledgeable in the law, fair in his decisions and a fine person to serve on the bench.
