DuPage County reports 175 new COVID-19 cases Thursday, 5 deaths

The DuPage County Health Department on Thursday reported 175 new cases of COVID-19 in the county, with five deaths: three women in their 80s, a woman in her 60s and a woman in her 90s. It is the 10th straight day of greater than 100 confirmed cases reported.

The county now has seen a total of 19,898 coronavirus cases including 591 deaths, according to the health department. The recovery rate among DuPage County cases as of October 6 was 96.0%.

The West Suburban region (DuPage and Kane counties) has seen eight days of positivity increases – meeting one criteria for stricter mitigation measures – and four days of hospital admission increases. The region's positivity rate increased from 6.7% to 7.0%. Currently, 31% of medical/surgical beds are available and 46% of ICU beds.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported a single-day record 4,015 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 53 additional deaths Thursday.

By town, Wheaton has had 851 total cases, Glen Ellyn 662, Lombard 974, Villa Park 576, Hinsdale 375, Westmont 627, Darien 364, Downers Grove 838, Elmhurst 1,061, Warrenville 285 and Winfield 175. Addison has had 1,425 confirmed cases, Naperville 1,464, Carol Stream 1,069 and West Chicago 1,261.
