Colonial Cafe's Randall Road location in St. Charles to turn into SYRUP

ST. CHARLES – A new breakfast and lunch restaurant called SYRUP soon will take over Colonial Cafe's location at 552 Randall Road in St. Charles.

Colonial Cafe President Clinton Anderson announced the news to customers in a recent email. Colonial Cafe's location on East Main Street in St. Charles will remain open along with its locations in Aurora and Naperville.

The next generation of Andersons, Kimmie Matsunaga and Clinton Anderson, are the co-founders and owners of SYRUP.

"On Oct. 18, we will be closing this location, but we look forward to still serving you on the east side of St. Charles at 1625 E. Main St.," Anderson said in the email. "A new and exciting concept called SYRUP will be transforming the space into an upscale, modern farmhouse-meets-luxe breakfast and lunch destination."

Earlier this year, SYRUP took over Colonial Cafe's location at 2555 Bunker Hill in Algonquin. In the email, Anderson said St. Charles Colonial Cafe employees will be given the opportunity to join the SYRUP team or the Colonial Cafe location on Main Street in St. Charles.

Last year, Colonial Cafe celebrated its 60th anniversary. The restaurant chain launched in October 1959 with a menu that featured 11 sandwiches, french fries, soup of the day, chili and ice cream sundaes and shakes.
