A man was arrested after he spat at a married couple celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary and pushed a skateboarder to the ground at Whalon Lake in Naperville, according to police.
About 2:40 p.m. Wednesday, officers with the Forest Preserve District of Will County responded to a report of a disturbance that occurred at Whalon Lake on Royce Road, west of Route 53 and Bolingbrook Drive, said Forest Preserve Police Chief Tracy Chapman.
David Hernandey, 48, of the 1000 block of South Lorraine Road in Wheaton spat at a woman and her husband walking on the path around Whalon Lake, Chapman said.
“The couple was walking the trail celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary,” Chapman said.
After passing a man on a skateboard three times, Hernandey pushed the man to the ground after stepping in front of a skateboard, which then caused the man to injure his knee, Chapman said.
Chapman said Hernandey was arrested at his home in Wheaton. At close to 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, he was taken to the Will County jail.
Hernandey faces misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and battery, according to court records.
On June 18, 2019, Hernandey was arrested and taken to jail on charges of leaving the scene, failure to give information or aid, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, improper passing, failure to reduce speed and speeding.
Hernandey pleaded guilty to driving between 21 to 25 mph above the speed limit and failure to reduce speed, court records show. The other traffic charges were dropped.
