Bed, Bath & Beyond to close in DeKalb by end of year

DeKALB — Another big box store is leaving DeKalb, as Bed Bath & Beyond announced its DeKalb location, 2530 Sycamore Road in the Northland Shopping Center, will close by the end of the year.

According to a list provided by the retailer to USA Today, four locations in Illinois are set to be the first 63 stores to close by the end of 2020. Locations in Bolingbrook, Orland Park and Chicago will also close.

In July, Bed Bath & Beyond announced plans to close about 200 stores over the next two years as its sales slid in the first quarter. The chain reported its quarterly sales dropped 49% due to temporary store closures amid the pandemic. Online sales soared 82%.
