THOMSON – A 40-year-old Savanna man was killed shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday when his vehicle went off Illinois Route 84 and overturned.
Thomas W. Downing was northbound on Illinois Route 84, about three miles south of Three Mile Road, when he lost control, veered off the road and struck an embankment and a tree before his vehicle overturned, the Carroll County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.
Downing was pronounced dead at the scene. Only one vehicle is believed to be involved in the accident.
