The Romeoville Village Board has reviewed plans for a new 20,000-square-foot aquatic center, officials said.

The new center is planned to be located between the existing Romeoville Athletic & Event Center at RC Hill Elementary School on the village's east side, according to a news release.

The project is expected to include 12,000 square feet of aquatic space as well as a large outdoor splash pad.

“A large-scale splash pad and indoor pool are amenities not currently offered in Romeoville,” Romeoville Mayor John Noak said in the release. “The indoor element of the pool would allow us the flexibility to use it in the winter months as well.”

Village officials said the center will include a water slide, an interactive play area, a wellness lap area, a shelter, picnic tables and shade sails outside.
