Peru announces upcoming opening for Splash Field at Washington Park

The city of Peru announced plans to open Splash Field at Washington Park on Monday, June 29.

Details are forthcoming about specifics.

The splash pad, which is located at 1325 Park Road in Peru, is baseball-themed and is about 12,000 square feet with hundreds of jets that spray water.

The pad was designed with an emphasis to be inclusive and includes aspects that make the pad particularly friendly toward children with various disabilities.

The city's park and recreation program also announced:

• Summer programs began Monday, June 22, with three programs including arts and crafts, tennis and fitness in the park. These programs will run over a six-week period.

• Summer camps will begin on Monday, June 29.

• Safety precautions for summer programs will be in place in alignment with state guidelines.
