SANDWICH – The individuals served by Open Door received a generous cookie donation from Girl Scout Troop 2059.
Sixteen girls from Somonauk and Sandwich make up this active, combined group of Daisy and Brownie scouts who range in age from 6 to 9. The cookie donation was part of a service project sponsored by the Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois.
“The girls like to show that we should all be kind, especially during times like we face today,” Mandi Barta, mother of troop member Regan Barta, said in a news release. Her daughter was extremely excited to deliver 18 cases of cookies for Open Door’s enjoyment.
Girl Scout Troop 2059 takes pride in making a difference in their community. Along with donating treats to Open Door clients, members donated flowers this spring to beatify James R. Wood Elementary School in Somonauk. Girls interested in joining scouts can visit www.girlscoutni.org for more information.
