6 La Salle County COVID-19 deaths tied to Marseilles nursing home outbreak

State health department says Aperion Care Marseilles has had 37 confirmed or probable cases

Six of La Salle County's 10 deaths related to COVID-19 complications have been linked to a coronavirus outbreak at a Marseilles nursing home, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

The state agency releases its long-term care facility each Friday, noting Aperion Care Marseilles has had 37 confirmed cases of the coronavirus and six deaths.

Aperion Care Marseilles is the only nursing home in La Salle County that has reported two or more coronavirus cases to the state.

Long-term care outbreak data reporting has been updated and includes laboratory confirmed cases only for those facilities currently experiencing an outbreak (a case within the previous 28 days).

Nursing homes report data to their local health departments, which in-turn report to IDPH, so lag time and discrepancies may occur.

A spokeswoman from the nursing home said the facility was working with county and state health departments, and are following their guidelines.
