GENEVA – A spokeswoman for California Pizza Kitchen said it is not closing several of its Illinois locations, including the Geneva Commons restaurant, despite the Illinois' Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification report, which states the company is permanently closing and laying off its employees.
According to an email from a spokeswoman for the California Pizza Kitchen, the WARN report is incorrect.
"CPK is following up with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Bureau/Department of Employment Services to get the WARN information corrected," the spokeswoman stated in the email.
The WARN report also listed CF Management-IL LLC, doing business as XSport Fitness, as closing 34 locations, including the ones at 238 N. Randall Road, St. Charles and 81 N. Randall Road, Batavia.
However, in an email, the company said it plans to reopen its facilities once Gov. JB Pritzker lifts the stay-at-home order, in which all non-essential businesses, including gyms, were forced to close.
"Operations are intended to resume as soon as practicable," the company's management stated in an email.
The WARN layoff applies to Illinois companies with 75 or more full time workers. More information is available online at www.illinoisworknet.com.
