VAC seeking paper lunch bag donations to help Meals on Wheels program

Voluntary Action Center's Meals on Wheels program is in need of paper bags to package meals for senior citizens and disabled individuals in need due to COVID-19 crisis.

To donate brown paper lunch sacks to help with delivery, call (815) 758-3932.

Meal deliveries have increased for VAC since the COVID-19 health crisis and statewide shelter-in-place order began. Many who were utilized the VAC's lunch program are now in need of home-delivered meals. This adds additional strain on the regular Meals on Wheels service to seniors who are isolated at home.

Each day, Meals on Wheels recipients receive both a hot plated meal and a lunch sack with cold food items such as bread and butter and fruit. In addition, many low-income senior clients need a second cold meal to eat later in the day. The additional deliveries have been rapidly depleting supplies.
