It was a busy weekend for youth wrestling teams.

Princeton Logan Junior High qualified four wrestlers for sectionals, including three regional champions, at Saturday’s IESA Eureka Regional. Lions Ace Christiansen (90 pounds), Carlos Benevadez (100) and Payne Miller (275) were all crowned regional champions, while Izaiah Smallwood (95) placed third.

Logan’s Preston Arkels, Malaki Poff and Ethan Jansen all placed fourth qualifying as sectional alternates.

The Tiger Town Tanglers of Prince-ton and the Putnam County-Hall Thundercats competed in the IKWF regionals at Metamora Sunday, each qualifying wrestlers for sectionals.

The Thundercats advanced four wrestlers, including regional champ James Irwin at 188 pounds. Also qualifying are third-place finishers Cayden Bouxsein (74) and Bailey Herr (154) and Max Ciado (100), who was fifth.

For the Tanglers, Augustus Swanson (67) and Hawk Amy (59) won the championship while Brayden Bickett (64) claimed second.

The top three in each weight class at sectional advance to the state tournament in Rockford the following weekend.
