A homeless man arrested Saturday in Streator was charged for sexual abuse of a juvenile between the ages of 13 and 16, stemming from an investigation by Ottawa police.
Ottawa Police Department began the investigation in May regarding the allegation, which is said to have occurred in Ottawa, according to Detective Sgt. Kyle Booras.
The investigation was completed Feb. 24 and arrest warrants were issued for Cody A. Parsons, 27, for two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, both felonies.
Parsons was arrested by Streator police Saturday and taken to La Salle County Jail where he remains as of Monday afternoon. Bond was set at $15,000 — with $1,500 necessary for release.
Parsons appeared in court Monday and was granted a public defender. His next court date is scheduled 9 a.m. Friday, March 13.
If convicted, the sentencing range is three to seven years in prison.
