XFL futures odds and Week 2 point spreads: Betting board shakes up after first week

Oddsmakers acknowledged there would be significant adjustments to XFL betting numbers after the first week of the league's comeback season. Sure enough, following convincing home victories on Saturday, the DC Defenders and Houston Roughnecks have vaulted to the top of the futures board, both updated to 7/2 odds at the Westgate LV SuperBook.

The Dallas Renegades, who lost 15-9 as 9.5-point favorites at home Sunday to the St. Louis Battlehawks, saw their odds lengthen to 5/1 after entering the season as the 5/2 favorites.

Overall, there’s a parity throughout the league uncommon among major U.S. sports leagues, with six of the eight teams priced at 7/1 or shorter to win the championship.

From a betting perspective, the XFL is off to a fine start, with sportsbooks reporting handle for Saturday's doubleheader was about 20 times higher than for the first two games of the AAF's inaugural but unfinished season ,per Action Network.

It’s on to Week 2 for XFL, where the Defenders and Roughnecks — the league’s new co-favorites — are laying big numbers at home for the second week in a row. The tightest point spread belongs to the Tampa Bay Vipers at Seattle tilt, one of two games of the weekend featuring a road favorite.
