Records: Joliet man pleads guilty to threatening victim with knife

A Joliet man was released from jail after pleading guilty to threatening to stab another man, according to court records.

Terence Randall Hester Jr., 42, of the 400 block of East Cass Street, was charged Nov. 5 with misdemeanor aggravated assault with a deadly weapon but was not apprehended until Friday, court records show.

Hester pointed a knife at a man on Oct. 14 and said to him, “Stop asking me or I’ll stab you,” a criminal complaint said.

Hester failed to appear in court Nov. 5 and a judge signed a warrant for his arrest that carried a $5,000 bond. About 3 a.m. Friday, Hester was arrested and booked into the Will County jail.

On Monday, Hester pleaded guilty to aggravated assault. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail and ordered to pay $716 in fines and costs, according to court records.

Hester was credited with having already served five days in jail and he was released at about 1:40 p.m. Monday.

On Aug. 26, Hester pleaded guilty to resisting an officer. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail, credited with already serving four days, and he was ordered to pay a fine of $600, according to court records.

On Feb. 11, 2014, Hester pleaded guilty to domestic battery. He was given conditional discharge and required to receive mental health treatment, court records show.

His conditional discharge was revoked almost 9 months later and he was sentenced to 116 days in jail and credited with serving 58 days.

Hester still owes $206 in fines in the domestic battery case, court records show.
