A Plainfield man has been charged with attempting to shoot a man to death outside Andy & Sophie’s bar Friday, according to police and court records.
On Thursday, Matthew P. Ramones, 35, of the 5800 block of Emerald Pointe Drive was charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery, possession of a weapon by felon and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, court records show.
Ramones allegedly shot a 31-year-old man outside Andy & Sophie’s bar, said Joliet police Sgt. Christopher Botzum.
A warrant has been issued for Ramones’ arrest. Botzum said on Thursday that Ramones has not been apprehended yet.
Shortly after 10:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 900 block of North Hickory Street after receiving a report of a man who had been shot, according to a Joliet police news release.
The officers located a man with gunshot wounds to his torso, police said. He was transported to AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet in critical condition.
Ramones is charged with one count of attempted murder and four counts of aggravated battery by discharging a firearm, court records show. The charges are punishable by up to 30 years in prison.
The other charges against Ramones are punishable by up to seven years in prison and fines of up to $25,000.
In 2005, Ramones pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse while another count was dropped, according to court records.
He was sentenced to three years in prison, credited for already serving 142 days in jail and fined $1,124.
