Mystery Diner: Algonquin Sub Shop makes a mean sandwich

The subs are good, and they make it worth your while to sit down to a full-sized sandwich ($9.25) or a half sandwich ($6.25). We headed down to Algonquin for a Tuesday working lunch, picked out a table and then looked in awe at the board of 25 sub options.

From chains to grocery stores, there are plenty of sub sandwich shops around. So, how does a little house just off Route 31 (south of downtown Algonquin) have such a following? It's not just the funny shirts and abbreviation that accompany the donkey mascot at Algonquin Sub Shop.

It's the subs. They're different. They're made with their own hearty, distinct recipes, homemade bread and a taste that you can rely on.
