St. Charles contracting company looking to donate free roof to breast cancer survivor

Contest is open until Oct. 1 for a survivor or patient who can't afford roof repairs

ST. CHARLES – Atlas General Contractors in St. Charles is donating a free roof to a breast cancer survivor in honor of owner Gary Paris' mother, who is a breast cancer survivor.

According to a news release from the company, the deadline for submissions in Oct. 1 and Paris' mother, Joella McWiliams, will select the recipient by the end of the month. Entries will be accepted on Atlas General Contractors website, and people can nominate a breast cancer survivor or someone who is currently battling breast cancer and cannot afford to replace their home's roof.

McWilliams was diagnosed with breast cancer in August 1997 at age 39. After undergoing treatment, the cancer returned 9 years later and had metastasized to other parts of her body. It continued to return after each round of treatment, which still is still undergoing.

The release states that her son Gary came up with the idea to help other women who are undergoing the same battle.
