Two Ottawa women were arrested Friday on drug-related charges at an Ottawa motel.
Both Ashley N. Gaines, 28, Ottawa, and Alivia J. Stachowiak, 20, Ottawa, were arrested on complaints of unlawful possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl), a Class 1 felony, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), a Class X felony.
The Tri-County Drug Enforcement Narcotics Team (Tri-DENT) assisted Ottawa Police and the La Salle County Sheriff's Office with a search warrant at the Sands Motel, 1215 La Salle St. The warrant was acquired following an investigation into illegal narcotics sales from a room at the motel.
The two women were located upon entry as was approximately 10 grams of a substance containing fentanyl and 30 grams of a substance containing cocaine.
Both were taken to the county jail with bond set at $1 million.
If convicted, a Class 1 felony carries a base sentencing range of four to 15 years and a Class X felony carries a base sentencing range of six to 30 years.
