Clearing out space at the ‘borderline‘

Demolition work north of U.S. 6 on the La Salle-Peru line took place at two separate projects. Earlier this month, a crew finished demolishing a three-story building on the west side of Peru Street that was destroyed by fire on Christmas Eve, 2018. Peru fire chief Jeff King said the owner of the badly damaged building was helpful in getting the old building (now just the slab across the street in the background) removed. Last week, a Glynn’s Demolition crew demolished a building on the east side of Peru Street. That project will provide extra parking for the Borderline bar.
