Save the dates for a 'twisted' Christmas tale and a holiday classic, hitting the stage in Kendall County in December

From spoofs to spirited classics, there's something for everyone on stage this season, up and down the Fox River Valley. Save the date for these two shows, hitting KEndall County in early December:

"A Twisted Christmas Carol"

Indian Valley Theatre will present "A Twisted Christmas Carol" Dec. 6 and 7 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. at the Sandwich Opera House, 140 E. Railroad St. in Sandwich.

"A Twisted Christmas Carol" is a Texas spoof of Charles Dickens' classic story, "A Christmas Carol." It's Christmas Eve in a small west Texas town and cantankerous barbecue joint owner Buford Johnson gets in an argument with his wife, Darla and tells her he's skipping Christmas. He storms out of the restaurant, goes four wheeling in his pickup, gets hit by a twister, rolls his truck and goes into a coma. He comes back in his dream where he's visited by ex-business partner, Hank Walker, who plays the ghost of Christmas past, present, and future. Hank takes Buford (Scrooge) on a journey similar to that in Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" only Texas style. Get tickets online now at indianvalleytheatre.com. “Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus”

Morris Theatre Guild will present its Christmas Show, “Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus,” Dec. 6-8 and 13-15 at Morris Theatre Guild, 516 W. Illinois Ave., Morris.

This Radio Play invites the audience to watch and follow along as the actors and sound artist recreate the wonderful story of Virginia, who writes her letter to the New York Sun, explaining that her father told her, "If you see it in the Sun, it's so." As the details of her family emerge, and the newspaper editor, Ed Mitchell, decides to give the assignment to Frank Church, a reporter on the verge of self-destruction, the story develops into a quest to discover if there is indeed a Santa Claus. As he struggles to answer her question, he finds his own answers as he creates one of the world's most quoted and beloved editorials. Tickets are available at morristheatreguild.org or by calling 815-942-1966.
