Two men were charged with attacking a 17-year-old teen in Wilmington by striking and kicking him while he was on the ground, police said.

Charles L. Neese, 23, of Morris and Kaleb L. Findlay, 20, of Wilmington, were charged in connection with the incident that occurred on Aug. 31 in the 100 block of North Kankakee Street, said Wilmington Police Chief Philip Arnold.

Findlay was booked into the Will County jail Sept. 30.

Neese has yet to be apprehended, according to court and jail records. Court records said Neese is from Coal City but is homeless.

Both men went to North Kankakee Street, where several juveniles were standing, and challenged the juveniles to a fight, Arnold said.

None of the juveniles took the men up on their offer, he said.

Findlay then reached across a fence and struck a 17-year-old in his face, Arnold said. When the teen refused to fight, Findlay told him “that he was going to break out his car windows,” he said.

Arnold said Findlay then entered the teen’s car and rummaged through his belongings. When the teen told Findlay to get out of his car, Findlay beat him, pulled a knife from his pocket and threatened to stab him, he said.

Neese came up behind the teen and threw him to the ground, Arnold said. Neese and Findlay then “jumped on top of him,” striking and kicking the teen numerous times, he said.

The teen was treated for a dislocated shoulder, two black eyes and several lacerations to his face, Arnold said.

Findlay is being held at the Will County jail on a $100,000 bond.
