The Grundy County Corn Festival is back.
The Corn Fest Committee, the Lions Club of Morris Illinois and the Morris Police Department have designated the main ticket booth at the Skinner's Amusements Carnival as the festival's official "relocation point."
Parents are asked take their children to the relocation point and explain to them that it is the meet-up spot should they get separated. Parents and children also can go to this location to ask for help.
Meanwhile, Skinners Amusements returns with the carnival this year, but there's been a last-minute location change. The carnival, normally held in Stratton Park along the shoreline of the Illinois River, had to be relocated due to muddy conditions at the park.
The carnival has been moved to the county parking lot at east Washington Street and Route 47. Since the set up is different from previous years, the parking lot will be surrounded on three sides with fencing to keep pedestrian traffic toward Franklin Street. Festival-goers are reminded to use crosswalks and be mindful of traffic.
Other activities for the week ahead include:
Family Flannel Fest
Apple cider, games and Wii dancing. All three of these will be found at the annual Family Flannel Fest at Morris Area Community Library from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26. The event is an excellent way to spend the afternoon with family. Attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite flannel to celebrate.
