Shabbona United Church of Christ and Pastor Jim Allen invite the community to “Alligator Sunday.”
Jim Nesci of Cold Blooded Creatures will bring his reptile friends to the church Sunday for the 9:30 a.m. worship service.
Nesci is known for his 300-pound, 10-foot-long “Bubba the Alligator.” Bubba came to Nesci as a rescue from the Chicago area. Of all the animals he has trained, Bubba is said to be his pride and joy.
Nesci is one of the leading pioneers of reptile education. He has owned and worked with reptiles his entire life, starting as a young boy.
Nesci has educated and entertained groups of all kinds and at all levels of schools, daycares, preschools and universities. He and his reptiles have appeared on “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” “Animal Planet,” “The Tonight Show,” HGTV, “Regis & Kelly” and the “Today Show.”
He also has lectured at the Shedd Aquarium, Lincoln Park Zoo, the Field Museum and the Academy of Sciences and has performed with Jim Fowler from the TV Show, “Wild Kingdom.”
Everyone is invited to the free event. A luncheon will follow the service.
