Parkman's Plain parking lot at Starved Rock State Park open

An updated parking lot will be open for Labor Day weekend at Parkman's Plain and La Salle Canyon along Route 71 on the eastern edge of the park.

Illinois Department of Natural Resources staff closed the parking lot in April of this year to widen and improve parking spaces. The new parking lot can now accommodate up to 80 vehicles. The parking lot will undergo a few temporary closures in October to complete the final installments of construction. Future plans include a picnic shelter and restrooms.
