‘Fasting Cougars’ to play Riverfront Playhouse for laughs

West suburban playwright and actor Craig Gustafson has crafted a collection of his short comic plays called “Fasting Cougars.” The show will be staged at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday through Aug. 31 at Riverfront Playhouse at 11 S. Water St. in downtown Aurora, a news release stated.

What do sexy clowns, local brothels and mysterious ghosts all have in common? They're all a part of “Fasting Cougars” by the Lombard playwright, who has appeared in the Fox River Valley, both as director and actor.

A night of bawdy and bizarre comedy, the show is a semi-sequel to “Crumbs in Bed,” which Gustafson directed for the Riverfront in 2016 – fast paced, funny and more or less driven by sex.

Not for children, “Fasting Cougars” is described as a delightful evening in the theater for mature and immature adults.

“Of course ‘Fasting Cougars’ is family friendly,” Gustafson, who directs the new show, stated in the release. “‘The Addams Family.’”

Tickets cost: $17 for adults, $15 for students and seniors. Additional discounts are available for military, local police and fire personnel.
