JTHS transportation center honors retiring district leader David Gray

Joliet Township High School Transportation Center staff honored retiring Director of Support Services David Gray on May 17 during a special reception that included changing the name of the Navistar Room at the Joliet Township Transportation Center to the “David Gray Training Center.”

The change in name honors Gray’s 33.5 years of service to Joliet Township High School District 204.

The name change was recommended by JTHS bus driver Doris Paige and the JTHS Transportation Department in gratitude to Mr. Gray, who will retire at the end of the 2018-2019 school year.

The event included the delivery of a proclamation bestowed by the Joliet City Council and Mayor Bob O’Dekirk presented by Councilwoman Jan Quillman.

In August 2011, The Joliet Township High School Transportation Department relocated to a new 148,000 square foot facility located at 3901 Olympic Boulevard in Joliet.

The centrally located facility provides improved training, office and employee space; indoor and outdoor bus parking; and a new maintenance facility.
