Ryzhov receives P.E.O. STAR award

Christine Ryzhov, a senior at DeKalb High School, has been awarded a P.E.O. STAR scholarship for the 2019-2020 academic year. The scholarship was presented at the DeKalb High School Senior Awards Night.

Ryzhov is the daughter of Victor Ryzhov and Natalia Vinokur and was recommended for the scholarship by Chapter DX of DeKalb. She has been accepted and will attend Georgetown University where she has plans to study international relations beginning this fall.

The P.E.O. STAR scholarship is a $2,500 award based on excellence in leadership, extracurricular activities, community service, academics and potential for future service. The program is open to young women who are citizens or legal permanent residents of the United States or Canada who are graduating high school seniors at the time of application. A student must be recommended by a P.E.O. chapter.

The P.E.O. Sisterhood, founded Jan. 21, 1869, at Iowa Wesleyan College, is an international philanthropic and education organization which promotes increased educational opportunities for women.
