The motorcyclist killed in a Tuesday afternoon crash was a 56-year-old Fox River Grove area man, according to a news release.

Police on Tuesday released additional details regarding a Fox River Grove motorcycle-versus-vehicle crash that sent two people to the hospital, one of whom was fatally injured.

Officers with the Fox River Grove Police Department responded at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday to the 900 block of Route 22 for a reported crash with injuries, according to a news release sent Wednesday.

A preliminary investigation found that a 20-year-old female driver from Round Lake Park was pulling her Honda Accord out of a shopping area when she struck a motorcyclist who was traveling west on Route 22, the release stated.

The driver of the motorcycle, who lived in an unincorporated area near Fox River Grove, was flown by Flight For Life to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the hospital Wednesday, police have said.

The Lake County Coroner’s Office has scheduled an autopsy for Thursday and will release the identity of the man and cause of death by Friday morning, said Lake County Coroner Howard Cooper.

The driver of the Honda was taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The crash remains under investigation by the Fox River Grove Police Department.
