McHenry Harley-Davidson consolidating with Woodstock dealership

Store will leave current location by May 31

The McHenry Harley-Davidson has announced its consolidation with the Woodstock Harley-Davidson store.

“Woodstock could use the manpower,” partner and general manager Doug Jackson said. “It’s an opportunity to bring our resources together.”

Many McHenry Harley-Davidson employees will be moving to the Woodstock Harley-Davidson and to City Limits Harley-Davidson in Palatine, Jackson said.

The move will be complete by
May 31, he added.

“Given the ever-changing nature of retail in general, and the motorcycle industry specifically, and the shift in our company locations ... the optimal course of action is to relocate McHenry Harley-Davidson to Woodstock Harley-Davidson,” Jackson said.

The McHenry store has been open since 2004 as a satellite location, Jackson said.

“In the early 2000s, supply was much more limited. There was a higher demand than supply,” he said. “In these times, you really don’t need two stores in a 300,000-plus area.”

Harley-Davidson dealership groups Windy City Motorcycle Co. and Fox Powersports merged in February. The merge included the relocation of Chicago Harley-Davidson from Glenview to Rosemont and the creation a new Harley-Davidson store in the Wrigleyville neighborhood of Chicago.

Jackson said the team at Woodstock Harley-Davidson would continue to support McHenry Harley-Davidson HOG Chapter ride schedules and events.

The facility it well-equipped to handle the merge, he said.

“We recently moved across the street to a 100,000-square-foot building,” Jackson said. “It’s ranked [in the] top five in the nation in service volume, and [it] always ranks at the top in satisfaction. It’s a nice, large facility that can service all our customers.”
