Ronald F. Ball, 87, of Streator, formerly of Marseilles, passed away Monday, April 15, 2019 at Heritage Health in Streator.
Memorial services will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, April 22 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Marseilles with Rev. William Chormann officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Marseilles Honor Guard following services at the church. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday at the church. Seals-Campbell Funeral Home in Marseilles is in charge of arrangements.
Ronnie was born on November 14, 1931, in Ottawa, to Harold and Edna (Newtson) Ball. On April 12, 1959, he married Betty Juergensen of Marseilles, who survives.
He served in the Navy during the Korean War. He was employed by Libbey Owens Ford until his retirement. Happily, he lived to see his beloved Cubs win the World Series. Throughout his life, he was an avid fisherman, bowler, and euchre player. Ronnie was a hard worker, a gentleman, and a friend to all he met. He truly cherished his family, his grandsons, and his canine companion, Bubba.
Ronnie is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty; one daughter, Diane (Steve Dyer) Ball of Marseilles; four sons, Ron (Colleen) Ball of Streator, Roger Ball of Oconomowoc, WI, Michael Ball of Chicago, Eric Ball of Ottawa; his two beloved grandsons, Jordan and Jason Ball; four sisters, Alta (Bill) Jenkins, Barbara Anderson, Judy Peterson, Midge (Roger) Nelson; and two brothers, Dale Ball and Kenny (Kathy) Ball.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Debra in infancy; one daughter-in-law, Terri; two sisters, Donna Mumper and Jean Danhoff; and three brothers, Bud, Ray, and Corky Ball.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Pet Project or the Marseilles Trinity Lutheran Church.
