Lockport man arrested at El Rodeo bar in Joliet

A Lockport man was charged with aggravated battery to a police officer, aggravated assault, resisting and obstructing a police officer and criminal trespass to property over the weekend.

About 5 p.m. Sunday, Carlos F. Sanabria, 23, of the 100 block of Cliff Avenue in Lockport, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery to a police officer, aggravated assault, resisting and obstructing a police officer and criminal trespass to property.

Sanabria was arrested at El Rodeo bar, which is located at 816 E. Jackson St.

After his arrest, he was taken to the Will County jail, where he is being held on a $30,000 bond.

Sanabria was scheduled to appear for a court hearing on his bond at
1:30 p.m. Monday at the Will County Courthouse. In Sanabria's booking photo at the county jail, he appears to have suffered injuries and has a large Band-Aid on his forehead.

El Rodeo bar has been the scene of several arrests in the past.

In June 2018, Miguel Cabrales, 32, of 5200 block of South Homan Avenue in Chicago and Manuel D. Hernandez, 26, of the 400 block of Street in Joliet were arrested on charges of criminal trespass at El Rodeo bar, 816 E. Jackson St. Cabrales also was charged with resisting a police officer.

In September 2017, Oscar Hernandez, 38, allegedly produced a knife at the bar and threatened to cause bodily harm to a 43-year-old man with whom he got into an argument, police said. Hernandez wasn’t even supposed to be at El Rodeo, police said, as he had been banned from the bar.
