David Corron named Outstanding Citizen in Campton Hills

CAMPTON HILLS – David Corron received the Outstanding Citizen Award at a ceremony during the Campton Hills Village Board meeting Feb. 19.

This is the second year the award was given. Last year, Neal Anderson received the first award.

The award is given to a village resident or business owner operating or living in Campton Hills who has assisted the improvement or added value to the village in the past 11 years.

Norm Turner, chairman of the Nomination and Selection Committee, said the nominee must have “made a significant, positive difference in the quality of life in Campton Hills.”

“Dave Corron was an extremely active volunteer at Corron Farm Festival, Anderson Park, National Night Out, board of trustees for Corron Farm Preservation, and he protects the community’s history and landscape,” Turner said. “And he has a strong labor involvement throughout the community.”

Corron said it was a great honor for him to receive the award.

“I’m not quite sure why I deserve it,” Corron said. “I work with a great group of guys. And we have a lot of volunteers who come to the Corron farm and help us out and a lot of them are my friends and without them, I wouldn’t be here.”

Corron was presented with a plaque and his name was added to the village’s plaque listing its Outstanding Citizen Award recipients.

The meeting’s regular business was held in recess for about 20 minutes so residents could have cake and coffee and have an opportunity to congratulate Corron.
