New owners take over Pub 47 in St. Charles

Will become Throwbacks Sports Bar

ST. CHARLES – Pub 47 has changed hands and is rebranding itself.

At their Feb. 4 City Council meeting, aldermen approved a new a new class B1 liquor license, including a 1 a.m. late night permit, for the new owners of the restaurant, located at 1890 W. Main St.

Jason Agoston has purchased Pub 47 with two minority partners, Jason Herbers and Nick Del Giudice. Agoston, the restaurant's owner/manager, previously worked as a manager simultaneously for the Corner Tap in Carol Stream and JT's Porch Saloon in Lombard. His restaurant experience includes being general manager of the Tap House Grill in St. Charles for three years.

Agoston is in the process of changing the name of the restaurant to Throwbacks Sports Bar. According to his business plan, Throwbacks aims to "bring together the neighborhood with fresh from-scratch food, handcrafted cocktails and constantly changing drafts to inspire your palate through the changing seasons."

The restaurant's menu will include a variety of salads, sandwiches, wraps, burgers, pizza and wings along with quesadillas, tacos, fajitas, shrimp and chicken fingers. The proposed hours of operation would be from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

"We feel this business and its unique offerings will be a nice addition to St. Charles," St. Charles Police Chief James Keegan said in a memo to St. Charles Mayor Ray Rogina, who also serves as the city's liquor commissioner.
