Huntley bar and grill to reopen Thursday after renovations

Parkside Pub to reopen Thursday after renovations

Renovations at Parkside Pub, 11721 E. Main St., initially scheduled to wrap up Tuesday were extended an additional day after the building’s subfloor was found to be in worse condition than expected, co-owner J.R. Westberg said.

The bar and grill had announced on its Facebook page that it would be closed Monday and Tuesday for renovations. During that time, Westberg said, some cosmetic changes were made to the bar, and the floor was sanded, stained and coated with a finish.

With such work, Westberg said he always opts for the day after the Super Bowl because it’s one of the slowest times of the year.

“Customers are always interested in seeing something new and fresh, and that’s what we’re trying to bring with Parkside,” Westberg said.

But as contractors were working on sanding the bar’s floors, it was discovered that some of the subfloor needed to be replaced, requiring Parkside Pub to close Wednesday, as well, Westberg said.

With the finish expected to harden Wednesday night, Westberg said Parkside Pub will reopen at 11 a.m. Thursday.

In total, Westberg said the renovations cost at least $10,000.

He said the next projects he and co-owner Jeff Lovell would like to tackle are creating a four-seasons space over the patio and extending the kitchen for a third time.
