Alberta Clayton

PRINCETON — Alberta Clayton, 92, of Princeton passed away Friday, Jan. 18, 2019, at Liberty Village in Princeton.

Alberta was born Oct. 13, 1926, in Princeton, the daughter of Herbert “Clair” and Bessie (Sheer) Goodale. She married Ross Clayton on Feb. 21, 1948, in Princeton. They farmed their entire married life in Dover Township and she retired from the Perry Memorial Hospital medical records department. She was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Princeton.

She is survived by one son, Tom (Marilyn) Clayton of Princeton; three grandchildren, Randy Clayton of Princeton, Ryan (Kristin) Clayton of Waukee, Iowa, and Jennifer (Tom) Schaefer of Naperville; seven great-grandchildren, Emma, Aniston and Ava Clayton of Waukee, Iowa, and Clayton, Abigail, Brooke and Claire Schaefer of Naperville.

Alberta was preceded in death by her husband, Ross, in 2015; one son, Lonnie in 1976; and her sister, Evelyn Routt.

Services were held held Tuesday, Jan. 22, at the Norberg Memorial Home in Princeton with Pastor Scott Schmidt of St. Matthews Lutheran Church officiating. A graveside service followed at Oakland Cemetery in Princeton. Visitation was held prior to the service at the funeral home.
